MS35489 Grommets
(Supersedes: MS35490 and AN931. Specification: MIL-G-3036)
These grommets meet MIL-G-3036 and MS 35489 and are AN (Army-Navy) approved. Used to insulate and seal around holes cut into solid panels. They offer vibration dampening and abrasion control. They also resist oil, gasoline, and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Material:
a. Rubber, nitrile black. Shore A 60. Temperature range is -45° to +250° F.
b. Rubber,silicone brick red. Shore A 60. -150° to +500° F
c. Non MS grommets can be made of any compound

Part Number: The MS part number consists of the MS number, plus the dash number for synthetic rubber, plus the letter "X" for silicone rubber. Examples: MS35489-14 is a synthetic rubber grommet while MS35489-14X is a silicone rubber grommet.

Split Grommets: Split grommets are not to be procured or stocked by the services. For replacement, use solid grommets and split at assembly. Split grommets may be specified or used on drawings by adding the sufix "S" after the dash number.
